5star beat The MongolZ and Astralis at FISSURE Playground 3

Ranked No. 112, 5star may have opened a path to the Major

A team ranked outside the world’s top 100 arrived at FISSURE Playground 3 through a closed qualifier, then defeated The MongolZ and Astralis. Even without a playoff appearance, that run could change 5star position in the VRS standings.

5star earned their place in Suzhou by winning the Asian closed qualifier. On the way to the main event, the Mongolian roster defeated NEXVOID, Rare Atom and Chinggis Warriors twice.

The FISSURE Playground 3 overview listed 5Sstar with 1,009 VRS points as of August 3, the lowest total among the tournament’s 16 participants.

Two victories changed the story

5star started the group stage with a 0:2 loss to 9z, but responded with two major upsets:

5star 2:0 The MongolZ
5star 2:1 Astralis

The run ended with a 0:2 defeat against G2 in the playoff qualification match. However, the victories over two established opponents may prove more important than 5star final placement.

The points gained at FISSURE Playground 3 could move 5star into the wider race for an invitation to PGL Major Singapore 2026.

That does not mean the Major spot is secured. The team’s position will depend on the next official VRS update, future results and the performances of its direct competitors. Still, 5star have already achieved something teams outside the top 100 rarely manage: two LAN series victories against recognised international opponents at the same event.
