LOUD Sweep Paper Rex at Champions 2026

LOUD has opened the VALORANT Champions 2026 playoffs with a 2-0 victory over Paper Rex, winning Split 13-9 before surviving overtime on Sunset 15-13.

The result keeps LOUD in the upper bracket at Champions Shanghai, while Paper Rex drops into the lower bracket and will now play with no room for a second defeat. Paper Rex selected Split, LOUD chose Sunset, and Summit was left as the deciding map. LOUD made sure the series never reached it.

LOUD turns Split around after an 8-4 deficit

Paper Rex appeared to be in control early on Split. PRX finished its attacking half with an 8-4 advantage and looked well positioned to convert its own map pick. LOUD responded with a dramatically different second half. The Brazilian organization won nine of the next ten rounds after moving onto attack. Paper Rex managed only a single defensive round, allowing LOUD to turn an 8-4 deficit into a 13-9 map victory. The shift was decisive because it immediately put Paper Rex under pressure before moving onto LOUD's own map selection. Losing a map after holding an 8-4 halftime lead also meant PRX had to recover quickly rather than relying on the momentum it had built during the opening half.

Sunset goes all the way to overtime

The second map was much closer. Paper Rex stayed alive long enough to push Sunset beyond regulation, but LOUD eventually closed the map 15-13 and completed the sweep.

The overtime result made the final 2-0 scoreline more competitive than it may appear at first glance. PRX had opportunities to force a third map, but LOUD repeatedly found enough rounds to keep the series under control. With Sunset secured, Summit was no longer required.

LOUD gets its first win over Paper Rex

The result also changes the direct international history between the two teams. Before Shanghai, Paper Rex had won both previous recorded series against LOUD. PRX defeated the Brazilian organization at VALORANT Champions 2023 and again at Masters Madrid 2024. Champions 2026 therefore gives LOUD its first victory in that head-to-head matchup, and it comes at one of the most important stages of the season. It is also LOUD's second consecutive 2-0 series after the team defeated Global Esports in the Group B decider.

LOUD's road through Champions Shanghai

LOUD did not reach the playoffs through a perfect group stage. The team opened its Shanghai run with a 2-0 victory over EDward Gaming, then lost 0-2 to Team Vitality in the winners' match. That forced LOUD into the Group B decider against Global Esports. LOUD responded with another 2-0 victory to secure the group's second playoff position.

The win over Paper Rex means LOUD has now won three of its four series at Champions 2026. Paper Rex entered the playoffs from a different position. PRX won Group C after beating Team Liquid 2-1 and G2 Esports 2-1, reaching the upper bracket without losing a series. LOUD has now handed Paper Rex its first series defeat of the tournament.

What the result means for the Champions bracket

LOUD remains on the upper-bracket route toward the Champions final and will play its next series in the Upper Semifinals. Paper Rex is not eliminated. The double-elimination format gives PRX another chance, but from this point every match in the lower bracket becomes an elimination series. That creates very different paths for the two teams. LOUD can still afford one defeat later in the bracket, while Paper Rex must win every remaining series to stay alive. The Champions Shanghai Upper Semifinals are scheduled for October 10.
