Attributes
Attributes are the core hero stats Strength, Agility, and Intelligence. They scale several secondary stats and can also contribute to a hero’s attack damage through primary-attribute rules.
What is Attributes in Dota 2?
Dota 2 heroes have three core attributes: Strength, Agility, and Intelligence. Each one improves a different set of secondary stats. Strength supports health and health regeneration, Agility supports armor and attack speed, and Intelligence supports mana, mana regeneration, and Magic Resistance.
Most heroes have one of the three as their primary attribute, which gives that attribute an additional connection to attack damage. Universal heroes are a separate primary-attribute classification: instead of relying on one of the three in the same way, they gain attack damage from all attributes under the current Universal hero rules.
How Attributes is used in a match
Attributes influence item choices because an item that adds stats can improve several hero properties at once. A Strength purchase can increase survivability, Agility can improve both offense and physical durability, and Intelligence can expand the resources available for spell usage.
Players also evaluate whether raw attributes are more valuable than direct bonuses such as damage, armor, movement, or utility. The answer depends on the hero’s primary attribute, abilities, role, and current item timing.
Do not confuse Attributes with...
Attributes are not the same as every stat shown on a hero. Armor, movement speed, attack range, damage, and other values are secondary statistics. Strength, Agility, and Intelligence are the core attributes that can influence several of those statistics.
