Bootcamp
A bootcamp is an intensive team training period in which Dota 2 players practice together, review games and prepare strategy before important competition.
What is Bootcamp in Dota 2?
Bootcamp refers to a concentrated preparation period for a professional or semi-professional team. Players often train from the same location or follow a tightly coordinated schedule so they can scrim, review replays, discuss drafts and solve communication problems more efficiently than during ordinary individual practice.
The exact format varies by team. A bootcamp can last a few days or much longer, and it may take place before a major tournament, qualifier or new competitive season. The defining feature is the deliberate concentration of team practice around a shared competitive goal.
How Bootcamp is used in a match
During a bootcamp, teams may schedule multiple scrims, review specific opponents, test new hero combinations and refine how roles communicate during fights. Coaches and analysts can use the period to identify repeated problems that are harder to address when players practice separately.
Bootcamps are also used to adapt to travel, time zones or tournament conditions. However, the term does not imply that every strategy developed there will appear in official matches; much of the value comes from testing and discarding ideas before competition begins.
Do not confuse Bootcamp with...
Do not confuse bootcamp with scrim. A bootcamp is the broader training period or environment; a scrim is one practice match or practice series played as part of training.
