Single Draft

Single Draft is a Dota 2 mode where each player chooses from a small randomized personal hero pool instead of having access to the full roster.

What is Single Draft in Dota 2?

Single Draft limits each player to a small set of randomly assigned heroes. The restriction forces players to adapt their role and strategy to the options they receive rather than selecting freely from the complete hero roster. The current mode distributes choices across hero attribute categories, giving each player a varied but limited personal pool.

Single Draft is also tied to Dota 2's Low Priority system. Players serving Low Priority games are required to play unranked Single Draft until the required wins are completed. That connection does not mean every Single Draft game is a punishment; the mode itself also exists as a public matchmaking option.

How Single Draft is used in a match

Before picking, a player evaluates not only personal comfort but also what roles the limited choices can cover for the team. If several teammates receive mostly core options, someone may need to adapt an unfamiliar hero to a support role or choose a less comfortable pick to make the lineup functional.

Because each player sees only a small personal pool, drafting is more about flexibility than targeted counter-picking from the entire roster.
