Teamplay
Teamplay is coordinated action between Dota 2 teammates, including shared positioning, spell combinations, objective decisions, saves and resource distribution.
What is Teamplay in Dota 2?
Teamplay is the collective execution that turns five individual heroes into one functioning lineup. It includes obvious actions such as combining disables or saving an ally, but also quieter decisions: leaving farm for a core, moving together under Smoke of Deceit, covering a teammate who pushes a dangerous lane or placing vision before an objective.
Strong teamplay does not require every player to stand together. Split pressure can be coordinated teamplay when the team understands why one hero is showing on another lane and positions to benefit from the reaction. The defining feature is that individual actions support a shared plan.
How Teamplay is used in a match
Teams demonstrate teamplay when they chain control without overlapping it unnecessarily, protect a hero who is dealing damage, or synchronize several item timings into one move. Communication helps, but preparation and shared understanding are equally important.
In pubs, teamplay often starts with simple agreements: who takes which lane, who buys detection, whether the team is fighting or retreating, and which objective comes next. Clear common decisions reduce the number of situations where one player commits while the rest of the team is doing something incompatible.
Do not confuse Teamplay with...
Do not confuse teamplay with grouping as five. Teamplay is coordination toward the same plan and can include split push, farming patterns or delayed movement rather than constant five-man positioning.
