Tower Dive
A Tower Dive is an aggressive attempt to fight or kill an enemy hero while entering the dangerous attack range of that hero’s tower.
What is Tower Dive in Dota 2?
Towers make nearby fights more dangerous by adding their own attacks and by influencing how units choose targets. Diving means accepting that extra defensive advantage because the attacker believes a kill, forced retreat or larger objective is worth the risk. Tower dives are especially dangerous when the attacker is low on health, lacks an escape, or has not tracked enemy teleports.
A successful dive is usually built on an advantage such as superior numbers, strong control, a durable frontliner, or a large creep wave. A bad dive gives the defending team time to turn the fight while the tower adds damage.
How Tower Dive is used in a match
During the lane stage, two heroes may dive after forcing an opponent to low health and pushing a large wave under the tower. One player takes the first tower attacks while the other supplies damage or control, then both leave before reinforcements arrive.
Later in the game, tower diving becomes part of broader initiation decisions. Teams may fight through an outer tower if winning the engagement will immediately open a structure or important area of the map.
Do not confuse Tower Dive with...
Tower diving means fighting a hero under tower protection. Pushing means attacking the lane and structures themselves; a team can push a tower without diving any enemy hero.
