The Triangle is an informal name for a valuable jungle farming area that teams use as a reference point for neutral camps, vision and safe map control.

What is Triangle in Dota 2?

Triangle is community terminology rather than an official building or marked zone. The name comes from older versions of the Dota map where a compact farming area was shaped around three nearby neutral camps. The map has changed many times since then, but players still use triangle as a convenient name for a high-value jungle area on their side of the map.

Because the layout changes between major updates, the exact camps and boundaries associated with the triangle are not permanently fixed. The strategic idea is more stable: it is a familiar resource area where cores farm, supports place defensive vision, and teams prepare for or avoid enemy invasions.

How Triangle is used in a match

A team may tell its carry to farm triangle while other heroes push a dangerous lane or show on the opposite side of the map. Supports can ward the entrances so the farming hero gets earlier warning of an invasion. An enemy team may smoke into the same area because it expects a high-priority core to be farming there.

The phrase is also useful for quick map communication. “They are in triangle” tells teammates which broad jungle area is likely occupied even if the exact hero position is hidden by Fog of War.

The Triangle is not a formal map objective like an Outpost, Watcher or Tormentor. It is a player-created name for an area, and its practical boundaries can shift when the map is redesigned.
