Marci

7 min readWinio Team

A 55.3% win rate at mid is one of the strongest numbers in the entire hero pool, and it's a sharp contrast to her 45-49% range in every other role — Marci's kit clearly rewards an aggressive, fast-scaling lane presence more than a passive support one. The read most new players miss is that Rebound's alt-cast option brings an allied hero along for the jump, turning what looks like a personal repositioning tool into a way to save or reposition a teammate mid-fight. Below is the current 7.41e patch, the build that leans into the dash-and-brawl identity, and the picks that make it much harder to use.

Role and Position Marci Plays

Marci splits across five roles: mid (37.9%) with by far the highest win rate at 55.3%, support (19.9%), offlane (17.3%), hard support (17.1%), and carry (7.8%).

When to pick Marci:

  • your team wants a fast, aggressive laner who can transition into a real brawling threat mid-game;
  • the draft benefits from Dispose's flexible throw, useful on both allies and enemies;
  • the game plan rewards close-quarters fighting and quick, decisive engagements.

When to skip him:

  • the enemy has strong ranged poke that can punish Marci's need to close distance before fighting;
  • the team needs a hero with more independent teamfight AoE than Marci's kit provides;
  • the map favors a slower, more methodical game over fast, aggressive brawling.

Marci's Strengths

  • Rebound bounds to an ally and lunges toward a chosen destination, stunning and damaging enemies where she lands, and can bring an ally along;
  • Dispose grabs and throws a unit behind her, damaging and slowing an enemy, or repositioning an ally out of danger;
  • Bodyguard grants Marci and a chosen ally lifesteal and bonus attack damage, adding real sustain to a fight;
  • Unleash unlocks a burst of powerful attacks, dealing heavy damage in a short, intense window;
  • Special Delivery provides free courier utility and bonus levels for the team's couriers, a quiet but genuinely useful passive.

Marci's Weaknesses

  • relatively short range on most of her engage tools, requiring her to get close before contributing much;
  • Rebound's initial jump toward the target unit can be disjointed, denying the engage before it lands;
  • Unleash's burst window is temporary, so poor timing wastes a significant chunk of Marci's damage potential;
  • relatively fragile before core items land, especially compared to other brawling-focused heroes;
  • value depends heavily on closing distance safely — a Marci who can't reach the fight contributes far less.

Marci's Abilities

Special Delivery (innate) — instantly summons Marci's courier to her, transferring items from the stash if it started in the fountain, and passively grants all allied couriers bonus levels and health.

Dispose (Q) — grabs a friendly or enemy target and throws it behind her, damaging and slowing enemy units caught in the throw or landing area.

Rebound (W) — bounds to a targeted allied unit, then lunges to a final destination, damaging and stunning enemies where she lands; alt-cast brings the target ally along for bonus movement speed.

Bodyguard (E) — passively grants Marci lifesteal and bonus attack damage, and can be cast on an ally to share a portion of both bonuses.

Unleash (ultimate) — unlocks a burst of powerful, rapid attacks for a limited window, dealing heavy sustained damage.

Build, Items, and Strategies

Skill order: start Dispose for lane control and the slow, take an early Rebound for engage and repositioning, and prioritize Unleash at every level it's available.

Talents: the level 15 pick boosting Dispose's damage rewards a more aggressive, close-quarters laning approach.

Starting items: Quelling Blade, a stack of regen, and enough sustain to trade aggressively using Bodyguard's lifesteal.

Aggressive mid build — the default path: a core damage item that boosts Unleash's burst window, since mid gives Marci the fastest access to her power spike.

Support-oriented build — when played more defensively: prioritize utility items that extend Rebound's engage range and Dispose's repositioning value for the team.

Reactive items: Black King Bar once fights routinely involve disables that would otherwise prevent Marci from closing distance safely.

Pro tip: use Rebound's alt-cast to save a threatened ally rather than only using the ability offensively — bringing a teammate along for the jump can pull them out of a dangerous position instantly.

Footnote: exact item order flexes heavily around whether Marci is played as an aggressive mid brawler or a more support-leaning utility hero.

Timings, Roshan, and Power Spikes

0–10 minutes: trade aggressively on the lane with Dispose and Bodyguard's lifesteal, closing distance whenever it's safe.

10–20 minutes: first power spike — Unleash online turns Marci into a genuine burst threat in close-quarters fights.

20–35 minutes: second power spike — with a core damage item, Unleash's burst window and Bodyguard's shared bonuses both scale up significantly.

Roshan window: Bodyguard's lifesteal and Unleash's sustained damage both make Marci a strong solo or semi-solo Roshan taker once farmed.

35+ minutes: use Rebound to close distance safely before committing Unleash, rather than walking into a fight exposed.

Footnote: these timings shift earlier when played mid, since the faster level curve unlocks Unleash's power spike well before other roles would see it.

Marci Counters

Any hero with strong ranged poke is a strong answer: punishing Marci before she can close the distance denies her whole engage-and-brawl game plan.

Silencer: Global Silence prevents Rebound and Dispose from being cast at all.

Any hero with a strong disjoint: dodging Rebound's initial jump toward the target unit denies the engage before it lands.

Any hero with strong burst damage: since Marci is fragile before core items, a well-timed combo can kill her before Unleash comes online.

Doom: the ultimate blocks item and ability usage, cutting off Marci's ability to engage or react.

Where Marci is strong on his own: against drafts without reliable ranged poke or disjoints, where she can close distance and brawl uncontested.

Footnote: most of these counters share a theme — denying Marci the chance to close distance safely removes almost everything she contributes to a fight.

Synergies with Other Heroes

Any hero who benefits from a strong laning partner: Bodyguard's shared lifesteal and damage make Marci a strong aggressive support for a core.

Tidehunter: Ravage groups enemies together for Marci's Unleash burst to hit multiple targets.

Any squishy ally needing repositioning: Rebound's alt-cast and Dispose both offer strong ways to save a threatened teammate.

Io: Tether can help Marci close distance safely before committing to a brawl.

Any hero with strong initiation: a clean engage lets Marci follow up immediately with Unleash's burst window.

These pairings work best around Marci's aggressive, close-quarters playstyle and her ability to protect or empower a laning partner.

What Experienced Marci Players Do

  • use Rebound's alt-cast defensively to save allies, not just offensively to engage;
  • time Unleash's burst window around a guaranteed fight rather than casting it prematurely;
  • track enemy ranged poke and disjoint tools before committing to close the distance;
  • cast Bodyguard on whichever ally benefits most from the shared lifesteal and damage;
  • use Special Delivery efficiently to keep the team's item logistics running smoothly.

Insider insight: the real skill on Marci is timing the approach — closing distance at the wrong moment against a poke-heavy draft wastes health before the fight even starts, while waiting too long can miss the window entirely.
