Esports World Cup 2026 CS2: Teams, Rosters, Matches & Prize Pool

The Esports World Cup 2026 CS2 tournament will take place in Paris from August 12 to 23. A total of 32 teams will compete, including open qualifier winners 100 Thieves, BIG, K27, and JiJieHao.

The teams will battle for a $2 million prize pool, 60% more than at EWC 2025. The champions will earn $600.000, but the money is far from the only reason to follow the tournament.

Paris will bring together IEM Cologne Major champions Falcons, VRS leaders Spirit, in-form BLAST Bounty winners MOUZ, and several dangerous underdogs capable of disrupting the bracket from the opening round.

When and Where Will EWC 2026 CS2 Take Place?

Most of the tournament will be played at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. The grand final will take place at Accor Arena on August 23.

EWC 2026 CS2 Format

The 32 participants have been divided into four groups of eight teams. Each group uses a double-elimination bracket: one loss sends a team to the lower bracket, while a second loss ends its tournament run.

The opening matches will be played as best-of-one series. This increases the likelihood of early upsets, as one poor map is enough to send even a title contender into the lower bracket. Every other group-stage series will be played in a best-of-three format.

Four teams from each group will advance to the playoffs:

• Opening group-stage matches - Bo1;
• Remaining group-stage matches - Bo3;
• Round of 16, quarterfinals, and semifinals - Bo3;
• Third-place match - Bo3;
• Grand final - Bo5.

The 16-team playoff bracket will use a single-elimination format, leaving no room for mistakes.

EWC 2026 CS2 Prize Pool

The total prize pool is $2 million. Even the teams finishing in the bottom eight will receive $10,000 each.

The tournament MVP will receive an additional $25,000 award.

Group A: Spirit Get a Favorable Draw, but Bo1 Leaves Room for Upsets

Group A features Spirit, Aurora, G2, GamerLegion, Luminosity, M80, BIG, and JiJieHao.

Spirit are the clear favorites to take first place, but the remaining playoff spots should be much more contested. BIG arrive after an almost flawless open qualifier, G2 sit inside the global top 10, and Aurora have plenty of individual firepower with XANTARES, woxic, and Jimpphat.

Group B: Falcons Begin Their EWC Campaign as Favorites

Falcons have been drawn alongside Legacy, BetBoom, Astralis, MIBR, FaZe, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and K27.

On paper, this is a manageable group for the IEM Cologne Major 2026 champions. However, Falcons already lost to BetBoom during the Major, while their opening Bo1 against K27 should not be treated as a guaranteed win.

BetBoom vs FaZe is another matchup to watch. Both teams are capable of reaching the playoffs, but the loser will immediately drop into the lower bracket.

Group C: Vitality and MOUZ Face Dangerous Challengers

Group C could become one of the most unpredictable groups at EWC 2026. It includes Vitality, MOUZ, FUT, B8, PARIVISION, TYLOO, Lynn Vision, and 100 Thieves.

MOUZ arrive in Paris after winning BLAST Bounty Season 2. They defeated Spirit 3:1 in the grand final and proved that the updated roster can compete for major trophies.

Vitality remain one of the favorites, but the team dropped to fifth place in the August Valve ranking and fell outside the top four for the first time in two years.

Their opening match against 100 Thieves should not be dismissed as a formality. The opposing roster combines the experience of device and rain with three young players, while gla1ve leads the project as coach.

FUT, B8, and PARIVISION should fight for the remaining playoff places. TYLOO and Lynn Vision will look to take advantage of the volatile Bo1 format.

Group C Opening Matches

Group D: Four Clear Playoff Contenders, but No Easy Route

Group D consists of Natus Vincere, FURIA, 9z, The MongolZ, magic, paiN, Wildcard, and 3DMAX.

Based on the rankings, NAVI, FURIA, 9z, and The MongolZ are the main candidates to qualify. However, the battle for fourth place could become especially close. 3DMAX will play in front of a home crowd, while paiN will immediately face regional rivals 9z.

The MongolZ return as the defending EWC champions. Their roster has changed since last year, however, so the previous title cannot automatically be treated as evidence of another deep run.

EWC 2026 CS2 Dark Horses

9z

Calling 9z a dark horse may seem questionable based on the data. The team sit fourth in the August VRS, ahead of Vitality, NAVI, and FURIA. However, they still receive less attention than the traditional title contenders.

Their opening match against paiN will be an important test. A victory would keep 9z away from the early pressure of the lower bracket and help prove that their high ranking reflects their current level.

100 Thieves

100 Thieves qualified for EWC by defeating INFINITE, BC.Game, and 1win. They did not drop a map in the decisive series.

The roster features device, rain, and three young players, with gla1ve serving as coach. An opening Bo1 against Vitality is a major challenge, but the short format gives 100 Thieves a better chance of producing an upset than a full Bo3 series would.

K27

K27 should not be viewed as title contenders, but they have already defeated SAW, EYEBALLERS, and fnatic in the qualifier. Three members of the roster also made the top 13 of HLTV’s August ranking of young prospects.

Their first opponent could hardly be more difficult: K27 will face Falcons. However, a single-map match gives the young lineup a better chance than a full Bo3. Even if K27 lose, the double-elimination format will allow them to continue through the lower bracket.

Who Will Win EWC 2026 CS2?

Falcons, Spirit, MOUZ, Vitality, and FURIA form the main group of title contenders. Falcons hold the most recent Major title, Spirit lead the Valve ranking, and MOUZ arrive after winning BLAST Bounty.

However, the EWC format makes it dangerous to rely on reputation alone. The tournament begins with Bo1 matches, only half of the participants will reach the playoffs, and there will be no second chances after the group stage.

9z look stronger than their reputation suggests, BIG are riding the momentum of an excellent qualifier, while 100 Thieves and K27 could make individual matches much closer than the difference in ranking implies.
