StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2026 Preview: Teams and Schedule

Eight teams, four match days and no group stage. StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2026 begins on September 17 in Barcelona, with every participant entering a double-elimination bracket from the opening series.

The tournament features a combined $500,000 prize pool and Club Share, four teams invited through the Global Valve Regional Standings and four regional qualifier winners. Most matches will be played as best-of-three series, while the champion will be decided in a best-of-five grand final.

Officially, the event is also known as StarSeries Season 20. StarLadder cancelled its planned spring tournament because of a scheduling conflict with the summer Major and assigned the anniversary season number to the fall edition.

Teams Competing at StarSeries Fall 2026

Four organizations received direct invitations based on the Global VRS. The other four reached Barcelona through the European, North American and South American closed qualifiers.

MOUZ, Vitality and FURIA all enter the tournament inside the top five of the current HLTV ranking. However, recent results suggest that the gap between reputation and actual form may be significant.

Opening Matches and Schedule

The opening round will be played on Thursday, September 17. All times below are shown in CEST, with UTC times in brackets.

12:00 CEST / 10:00 UTC | MOUZ vs NRG
14:30 CEST / 12:30 UTC | Vitality vs magic
17:00 CEST / 15:00 UTC | Natus Vincere vs Aurora
19:30 CEST / 17:30 UTC | FURIA vs MIBR

The winners will advance through the upper bracket, while the losing teams will immediately face elimination matches.

If the main favorites win their openers, MOUZ will move toward a meeting with NAVI or Aurora. On the other side of the bracket, Vitality and FURIA could clash in the upper semifinal. That structure may send one of the leading title contenders into the lower bracket after only two matches.

MOUZ vs NRG: The Clearest Favorite of Day One

MOUZ arrive in Barcelona with the strongest recent results in the field. They won BLAST Bounty 2026 and reached the grand final of BLAST Open Porto, where they defeated Vitality 2:0 before losing 1:3 to Spirit.

Their opening opponent is NRG, the lowest-ranked team at the event. The North American roster earned its place through the regional qualifier but now faces a major increase in competition level.

MOUZ should control the map veto, individual matchups and pace of the series. An NRG victory would be the biggest surprise of the opening round.

Vitality vs magic: A Stand-In Changes the Match

Under normal circumstances, magic could be an interesting outsider. The team qualified through Europe and recently recorded wins over PARIVISION and FaZe.

Their chances have taken a serious hit before the tournament, however. AW will miss the event because of visa problems, with coach eksiver entering the starting lineup. He has played only six HLTV-recorded maps during his career, with his most recent appearance coming in March 2025.

Vitality will also return to their usual five-player lineup. Mezii is expected back after jL replaced him at BLAST Open Porto, where Vitality still reached the semifinals.

This creates one of the widest apparent gaps of the first round. Magic need more than individual overperformance: they must find a functional system with a coach playing against ZywOo, ropz and a restored Vitality lineup.

NAVI vs Aurora: The Match of the Opening Round

NAVI against Aurora is the most balanced match on the first-day schedule.

Aurora currently sit slightly above NAVI in the HLTV ranking. Their roster changed significantly in July with the additions of Jimpphat, kyxsan and coach ashhh, and the team is still searching for consistency.

NAVI have the stronger historical status and are the defending StarSeries champions, but their recent results do not support treating them as a clear favorite. They failed to reach the top eight at each of their last three events and were eliminated by M80 during BLAST Open Porto.

This matchup should not be evaluated through brand value alone. Current form, the map veto and adaptation during the series may matter more than the names on the jerseys.

FURIA vs MIBR: A Brazilian Derby in Barcelona

FURIA enter the Brazilian derby as the higher-ranked team, but their recent ceiling has remained limited. They finished fourth at the Esports World Cup before missing the top four at both BLAST Open Porto and FISSURE Playground 3.

MIBR qualified through South America and arrive with less pressure. Familiarity between the teams could make the series more competitive than the ranking difference suggests, especially if MIBR can force the match onto comfortable maps.

FURIA should still be favored because of their individual quality and experience. The main question is whether they can convert another promising position into a tournament run rather than another finish outside the final.

StarSeries Fall 2026 Favorites

1. MOUZ

MOUZ have the strongest combination of recent results, roster stability and a favorable opening match. Winning BLAST Bounty and finishing second in Porto makes them the most reliable pre-tournament choice.

They are not unbeatable, as the grand final against Spirit demonstrated. Still, no other participant arrives with the same level of recent consistency.

2. Vitality

Vitality have the highest potential ceiling in the field. Mezii’s return restores the lineup that dominated much of the previous competitive cycle.

The uncertainty comes from their recent form. Vitality have not maintained their earlier level, and MOUZ defeated them convincingly in Porto. Barcelona will show whether the dip was connected to roster disruption or reflects a deeper problem.

3. FURIA

FURIA remain capable of defeating any team at this event, but recent tournaments have repeatedly ended before the final. Their path may also include an early upper-bracket meeting with Vitality.

They are a genuine title contender, although less dependable than MOUZ and Vitality.

Dark Horses and Outsiders

Aurora are the strongest dark-horse candidate. Their opener against NAVI is competitive, and a victory would give the rebuilt roster a realistic route into the upper-bracket final.

NAVI should normally belong among the favorites, but their current form makes them difficult to trust. The tournament is an opportunity to defend the StarSeries title and reduce the growing pressure around the roster.

Magic would also have been an interesting outsider with their complete lineup. AW’s absence and the use of coach eksiver significantly lower their upset potential.

MIBR and NRG start outside the main title discussion. Their first objective will be to survive the opening two rounds and prove that qualification results can translate to a stronger international LAN.

Who Will Win StarLadder StarSeries Fall 2026?

MOUZ enter Barcelona as the most logical favorite. They have won one recent tournament, reached another grand final and received the most comfortable opening matchup.

Vitality remain the main challenger. Their full roster has a higher proven ceiling, but they need to show that recent instability is behind them. FURIA form the third layer of the title race, while Aurora have the best chance of breaking the expected hierarchy.

The small field makes the tournament unpredictable. One poor BO3 can send a favorite into the lower bracket, while two successful matches can place an outsider within one series of the grand final.

Names and rankings establish expectations. They do not decide matches. Before each StarSeries series, compare the matchup with data-driven team probabilities on Winio.
