Beta testing of the new animation system has started in CS2

Valve released an update for Counter-Strike 2 on the night of April 2, 2026, introducing beta testing for a brand-new animation system called Animgraph 2. Players can enable it in Steam settings by selecting animgraph_2_beta under the beta versions section.
According to the developers, the new system is designed to reduce CPU load and cut down on network resource usage. In addition, third-person animations have been reworked based on community feedback.
The patch also includes several other updates: improved transitions from crouching to midair, refined player behavior on sloped surfaces, better collision handling with thin walls, and numerous sound system adjustments. These include louder landing sounds after jumps, a new sound for equipping the C4, and audio fixes on the maps Nuke, Vertigo, Baggage, Shoots, and Ancient.
