FaZe stop DENDELE—but the underdogs validate their FURIA upset

3 min readWinio Team

FaZe secured a place at the BLAST Bounty Season 2 Finals with a 2–1 victory over DENDELE. The European roster won Nuke 13–2, surrendered Mirage 10–13 and recovered to close Cache 13–7.

The opening map suggested a short series. JBOEN finished Nuke with 19 kills and only one death as FaZe dismantled DENDELE’s offense. The Brazilian side had completed its upset victory over FURIA less than 12 hours earlier and initially appeared unable to match FaZe’s pace.

That changed on Mirage. FaZe opened the map with six consecutive rounds, but DENDELE disrupted their economy with two successful force buys and gradually took control. The underdogs completed the comeback to force a deciding map.

DENDELE also remained competitive during the first half of Cache. Their coordinated A-site attacks repeatedly caught FaZe’s defense out of position, but several lost advantages prevented them from converting pressure into a stronger scoreline. FaZe eventually created separation and secured their Malta berth.

jcobbb led the winners with 49 kills and a 1.40 series rating. He also delivered a crucial one-versus-three clutch on Cache, stopping DENDELE from building momentum during the deciding map.

Winio Analysis

The defeat does not reduce DENDELE’s victory over FURIA to a random upset. Within one day, the team defeated one elite opponent, recovered from a 13–2 loss against another and took a map from FaZe after falling six rounds behind. That sequence points to genuine resilience and tactical flexibility.

DENDELE’s limitations became clearer on Cache. Their prepared attacks created openings, but mistakes in advantageous situations allowed FaZe’s individuals to decide key rounds. The difference was not an inability to compete; it was the consistency required to finish opportunities against stronger opposition.

FaZe completed the main objective, but the series was less convincing than the opening map suggested. Losing control of Mirage after a dominant start shows that the team can still become vulnerable when an opponent disrupts its economy and changes the pace.

For DENDELE, elimination came with useful validation. The FURIA result was the headline, but their response against FaZe provided stronger evidence that the team can remain competitive beyond a single upset.
