HEROIC complete rebuild with Brollan and MartinezSa: the roles now make more sense

3 min readWinio Team

HEROIC have completed their new roster by signing Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin and Antonio “MartinezSa” Martinez. The pair join nilo, susp, and Chr1zN, while Joonas “doto” Forss takes over as head coach. xfl0ud has moved to FUT, yxngstxr stepped down, and former coach TOBIZ has also departed.

The final lineup is different from the version that was initially expected. HEROIC had been linked with lauNX, but instead chose Brollan as the last player. That gives the roster more experience, while also allowing Brollan to move away from the IGL role he held at MOUZ and return to a more aggressive rifling position. HEROIC have not yet defined his exact role, saying the details will become clearer through practice and official matches.

MartinezSa solves a more obvious problem. HEROIC had been using yxngstxr as a makeshift AWPer after Alkaren was sidelined by visa issues. MartinezSa arrives as a dedicated sniper, restoring a natural specialist to one of the most influential roles in the lineup. His move also marks the first time he will play in an English-speaking roster after spending his career in Spanish-speaking teams.

The rebuild therefore does two different things at once. MartinezSa gives HEROIC clearer role definition, while Brollan adds experience and aggressive potential. The team is no longer trying to cover the AWP position temporarily, and it no longer needs one of its riflers to operate outside his preferred role.

Winio read: HEROIC now have a more natural role structure than before, but the rebuild still resets most short-term form signals. The first useful indicators will be Brollan’s opening positions, MartinezSa’s impact on the veto, and whether Chr1zN is comfortable as the main caller.

The remaining question is how the pieces fit around Chr1zN’s calling. Brollan brings leadership experience after more than a year as an IGL, but HEROIC have confirmed that he will step away from captaincy. That can still be valuable: he can contribute as a secondary voice without carrying the full responsibility for the system.

There is also a communication challenge. MartinezSa is entering his first English-speaking team, Brollan is changing role again, and doto is starting his first period as HEROIC’s head coach after working inside the organization’s academy structure. None of those changes is necessarily negative, but all three require adjustment.

The upside is that the roster now has a clearer purpose. HEROIC have a dedicated AWPer, an experienced aggressive rifler, three younger core players, and a coach already familiar with the organization. The previous version often looked like a team managing temporary solutions. This version at least begins with roles that make sense on paper.
