The International 2026 Dota 2: Results, a 52% Champion and Winio’s 96% Prediction Run

The International 2026 refused to follow a simple script.

The champions won only 52% of their maps. The runners-up finished the tournament with a 6:4 head-to-head map advantage over them. Meanwhile, Winio correctly predicted 22 of 23 tracked series, with the only miss carrying a narrow 53% probability.

Instead of replaying TI 2026 day by day, let’s look at the moments that changed the tournament completely.

23 Predictions, One Miss

Winio recorded 23 match predictions during The International 2026. The model selected the correct winner in 22 of them, producing an accuracy of approximately 96% within this tournament sample.

The confidence distribution tells an even more interesting story:

• 12 out of 12 predictions at 70% or higher were correct
• 10 out of 11 predictions between 50% and 69% were correct
• the only incorrect pick had a probability of just 53%

Winio correctly backed Team Spirit against Iron Wing and BoomBoys, TEAM VISION in both series against BoomBoys, and BoomBoys in their elimination match against Iron Wing.

A perfect run was stopped by a rematch that completely reversed its first result.

The 53% Match That Broke the Streak

Aurora Gaming faced BoomBoys in the group stage on August 15. Winio gave Aurora between 62% and 69% across the model updates.

Aurora won 2:0.

The teams met again one day later, this time with a playoff place on the line. Aurora remained a slight favorite, but their probability had dropped to 53%.

The outcome was the exact opposite:

This became Winio only incorrect prediction in the tracked TI 2026 sample.

The two series demonstrated why a previous result cannot simply be copied into the next prediction. Draft priorities change, teams adapt and a 53% probability describes an almost even matchup. It does not promise a repeat of the previous score.

For BoomBoys, that victory started an entirely new tournament. They reached the playoffs, eliminated Iron Wing and Nigma Galaxy, and eventually finished fourth.

Winio correctly identified the next two major turns in their run. BoomBoys received 76% against Iron Wing and won 2:1. Team Spirit later received 82% against BoomBoys and closed the series 2:0.

Team Spirit’s Third Aegis Was Not a Straight Line

Calling Team Spirit’s tournament a display of constant dominance would be misleading.

Spirit opened the group stage with three consecutive victories against Xtreme Gaming, Aurora Gaming and Team Liquid. At 3:0, a direct playoff place looked almost guaranteed.

Then everything changed.

Spirit lost 0:2 to TEAM VISION and followed it with another 0:2 defeat against Nigma Galaxy. Instead of qualifying directly, the team entered an elimination series against Team Resilience.

Spirit survived 2:1 and reached the main bracket on their third attempt. They defeated Iron Wing, lost to TEAM VISION again and dropped into the lower bracket.

That was where the championship run truly began:

Across the final four series, Spirit won nine maps and lost only two.

Winio rated Spirit at 77% against Iron Wing and 82% against BoomBoys. Both matches ended in 2:0 victories.

TEAM VISION Won More Maps, Spirit Won the Aegis

Before the grand final, TEAM VISION had already beaten Spirit twice:

• 2:0 during the group stage
• 2:1 in the upper bracket

TEAM VISION entered the final with a 4:1 head-to-head map advantage.

Spirit completed the comeback with a 3:2 victory in the final, but the overall score across all three series produced a strange result:

TEAM VISION won the head-to-head map battle 6:4. Team Spirit won the Aegis.

TEAM VISION lost only one series during the entire tournament. Unfortunately, it was the only series after which there was no second chance.

Spirit lost three series and completed TI 2026 with a 20:18 map record. That is a map win rate of only 52%.

The International does not reward the team with the cleanest overall record. It rewards the team that wins the final series.

Team Spirit became the first organization in Dota 2 history to claim three Aegis of Champions trophies. Yatoro and Collapse also became the first three-time TI champions among individual players.

The Other Defining Runs of TI 2026

The final standings do not fully explain several of the tournament’s most impressive stories.

Nigma Galaxy: Eight Straight Map Wins

Nigma Galaxy began the event with a 0:2 loss against Iron Wing.

They responded by winning four consecutive series without dropping a map. The eight-map streak included a 2:0 victory over eventual champions Team Spirit.

Nigma later eliminated defending champions Team Falcons before losing to Team Yandex and BoomBoys. They finished in 5th-6th place.

Team Yandex: From 2:3 to Third Place

Team Yandex completed the Swiss stage with a negative record and had to survive an elimination match against LGD Gaming.

After advancing, they reached the upper bracket final and pushed TEAM VISION to three maps. Their run ended against Spirit in the lower bracket, but third place was an exceptional result for the organization’s first TI appearance.

Team Falcons: The Champions Fell on Day One

The reigning TI 2025 champions lost 1:2 to Nigma Galaxy in the upper bracket. Team Liquid then eliminated them by the same score.

Falcons finished in 7th-8th place.

Winio had already identified a warning sign during the group stage. Iron Wing received a narrow 54% probability against Falcons and won the series 2:1.

The International 2026 featured 16 teams. The group stage and elimination round took place from August 13 to 16, while the eight remaining teams competed in the playoffs from August 20 to 23 at the Oriental Sports Center in Shanghai.

What TI 2026 Revealed About Winio’s Predictions

The main takeaway is not simply the 96% accuracy figure.

Every prediction at 70% or higher was correct. The only miss appeared in a matchup where the model gave Aurora the smallest possible advantage at 53%.

That distinction matters. A 53% prediction does not describe a reliable favorite. It describes a series that could realistically move in either direction.

A correct prediction also applies to one specific match, not a team’s entire tournament future. Winio correctly selected TEAM VISION against BoomBoys and Spirit against BoomBoys, but between those matches BoomBoys transformed from the ninth-placed team in the group stage into a top-four finisher.

Spirit’s 52% map win rate does not look like championship dominance either. Probability does not measure how impressive a tournament run will eventually become. It answers a narrower question: which team holds the advantage before the next series?
